Both Thomas and Alistair Wilson were born and raised on Skye, both are passionate and enthusiastic about promoting Skye to a wider audience. It was over three years ago that Thomas and Alistair both hatched plans to give up the ‘day job’ and dreamed of creating the first gin distillery on the Isle of Skye. After securing planning permission to purpose build the distillery and thus fulfilling their dream, the hard work really began. The Wilson bothers set out and created something unique!

In creating Misty Isle gin, both brothers took inspiration from the local landscape and the Old man of Storr in particular. They even fought off the big boys with a disputed name (they first launched as Isle of Skye gin and are still the only company/gin stills producing gin on Skye!) With lots of dedication, burning the midnight oil, weeks foraging local juniper berries often in the rain! they finally launched Misty Isle gin early February 2017 to great applause. All of the gin is made locally in Portree and use the crystal clear spring waters from the Storr Loch just over a mile or so away from the distillery.
