Electric Spirit Co. is based in Leith, Edinburgh.
Achroous is Electric’s second gin release, and the first to be produced at the company’s Leith distillery. It was recently named by the editor of Imbibe UK as one of the magazine’s top products of 2017.
The gin is a 41% ABV spirit featuring a short botanical bill — a strong
juniper backbone; coriander seed; liquorice, angelica and orris roots, and two more unusual additions in the form of Sichuan peppercorns and fennel seed. The gin contains no citrus.
Key botanicals: Sichuan peppercorns, providing a spicy, dry, citrus quality, and fennel seed, bringing an anis sweetness.
Aroma: Woody, spicy, juniper
Palate: Sticks to the mouth - Lightly spiced, resinous juniper, slight aniseed.
Finish: Sweet spice, with a lingering tartness from the juniper
Serve: However you choose — we all know how we take our gin. As a suggestion, a simple citrus addition of lemon or grapefruit
balances the earthy and spicy qualities of the gin. In a G&T, it works best with lots of ice and a drier tonic, such as Fever Tree Naturally
Light — the gin itself provides enough sweetness.
